Guitar tuition on hold whilst funding sought

Unfortunately, due to budget restraints, guitar tuition at The Vault Arts Centre has been postponed until further notice. This will, sadly, affect the 9 young guitar students currently attending the free TVYP lessons each week. The Trust hopes to have this matter resolved as soon as possible.

Guitar tuition postponed due to funding issues

Trad Music Trust have been providing free music tuition for under 25s since 2014 and, recently, has seen a significant uptake in lessons however without funding support or charging a fee for lessons, which would exclude many, it is not possible for this initiative to continue.

We continue to seek funding support for music tuition and hope to be able to offer a fresh programme of lessons in early 2023.

For our existing students, please continue to practice and learn - there are great resources on the Internet and YouTube - and please get along to the TVYP rehearsal nights or any of the traditional music sessions, bluegrass picking/jam sessions and open mic nights.

Scottish national award finalists

Finalists every year since 2022, and winners of a 'Highly Recommended' award in the 'Best Social Responsibility' category in 2025, The Vault Arts Centre has done it again in 2026; finalists again in the 'Best Night Out' category! Can we bring home a national award for Newton Stewart this year?
